Damonson goes O/S

The Outdoor Types will be without one of its founding members after Damonson went overseas for about 12 months.

He went to India first where he found some bikes that impressed him .... steel frame, single speed, big wheels. There are only about 12 million of them in India.

As he didn't have an adventure race for an excuse to get muddy, he found a festival to get down and dirty.

Stay safe Damonson .... its a jungle out there.

New bike for Outdoor Gaz

It was Australia Day 2006. I was waiting for Ben out at Gap Creek Reserve and started chatting to Dave and Imogen who said they had a bike to sell. I had been thinking of upgrading my trusty entry level bike and this was an opportunity too good to miss ... a Trek 8000 2006 model with XT components and very light frame.

So before the day was finished, I had bought a new bike.

The bike has seen some action in winning the class at Kooralbyn 12 hour race. Its a fast bike !!!

Top 5 in all male category !!! 17th overall !!!

The race was steep, hard but it was great fun and we did a lot better than we had hoped for.

The day wasn't too hot with a few showers about. There was a storm with a good deal of lightning as we paddle the last section along the Nerang River.

We started slow, but picked up a lot of places as we kept moving quickly the whole race. The best fun was flying down the steep, rocky hills on the MTB section. Wahoo !!
